Some highlights from District Comedians this week: Brainy Girl Productions hosts a comedy game show centered around African American culture on Sunday, Trustfall hosts their monthly show on Monday, The Penthouse Basements hosts their monthly show on Tuesday, and The Social Capital Mash features a slew of local improvisers on Saturday.
Sunday, April 29
Brainy Girl Productions presents comedy game show Black Card Declined: Brunch Edition at Bier Baron Tavern at 12:00pm. You’ll see comedians answer questions about African American culture and get a chance to win a raffle tick if they get it wrong. The show is free, but you can register here.
Maddy Brannon and Katherine Flaherty host a Bottomless Mimos*ha’s* brunch at 1:00pm at Wonderland Ballroom. The show will feature stand-up from Steven Chen, Andrew Cook, Nick Croniger, T.J. Ferguson, Bridget Geiran, Leon Scott, and Elena Torres.
Watch a panel of DC conservation scientists and sustainability experts in a “non-depressing science comedy show about Earth’s future” appropriately named Wait…Wait…Earth Isn’t Doomed at Drafthouse DC at 6:00pm ($12).
Brent Morin‘s last set at DC Improv is tonight at 7:00pm ($20).
Monday, April 30
Trustfall and Friends‘ April show is tonight at The Pinch at 7:30pm. Trustfall, of course, will be there, and their friends this month are Eileen Haley, Mr. and Mrs. Major, and Cerise.
See stand-ups from all over the DMV at Broken Mic Comedy‘s event at Shenanigan’s at 8pm.
Tuesday, May 1
The Penthouse Basement‘s monthly improv showcase at The Pinch at 7pm with Swoonface and Sound & Motion.
Eight comics face off in a stand-up battle at Comedy Kumite at Dupont Underground tonight at 7pm. Martin Amini, Dana Fleitman, Franqi French, Rob Maher, Ross Benoit, Naomi Karavani, Umar Khan, and Sean Savoy will compete in this hilarious tournament ($15).
WIT‘s Harold Night features After Pie and Captain PhD at 8pm and Oh That Baby and Wonder Whale at 9pm at Source.
Wednesday, May 2
Perfect Liars Club conducts their May show tonight at Bier Baron Tavern. Test your lie detector skills at 7:30pm ($15).
The Overachievers, hosted by Martin Amini, showcases a handful of comedians you might recognize from channels such as HBO, Comedy Central, NBC, and more at Drafthouse DC at 8:30pm ($10).
Thursday, May 3
Rahmein Mostafavi hosts Couples Therapy at Drafthouse DC at 7:00pm ($5).
WIT‘s Road Show kicks off this week at DCAC with Huggy Smalls and Poetic Resistance at 7:30pm ($15)
D.L. Hughley runs the DC Improv stage this weekend, starting tonight at 7:30pm. You can also catch him in shows on Friday at 7:00pm and 9:15pm, and Saturday and Sunday with three shows each at 3:30pm, 7:00pm, and 9:15pm ($40–$42).
H Street Comedy Night at Mythology at 8:00pm features some amazing DC comic each week.
Two comedy teams will battle to the comedic death at Iconoclast at Drafthouse DC at 8:45pm. See who gets the last laugh this month ($5).
Friday, May 4
Ben Gleib is jester supreme at Drafthouse DC this weekend, with four shows at 7:00pm and 9:00pm on both Friday and Saturday ($20).
Madeline and Poetic Resistance are up tonight for WIT‘s Road Show at DCAC at 7:30pm, followed by Hellcat and iMusical at 9:30pm ($15).
The DMV Comedy Showcase is a recurring show at DC Improv that features DC-Baltimore comedians. During this run, you can see sets from Jason Weems, Elahe Izadi, Tanael Joachim, Danny Rolando, and Benjy Himmelfarb at 7:30pm ($17).
Press Play kicks off Friday Night Comedy at Dojo this week at 8pm, followed by Mordipus at 9:30pm ($10).
Attack of the Comics is happening at Drafthouse DC at 10:45pm, just like it does every week.
Saturday, May 5
The Social Capital Mash, featuring an array of improvisers from DC, is back this month at Dojo at 6pm ($10).
Saturday’s run of WIT‘s Road Show starts off with Nox! and Poetic Resistance at 7:30pm with NIXON, Love Onion, and Commonwealth following at 9:30pm ($15).
Short-form fave ComedySportz is back at DC Improv this weekend. Vote for the team that made you laugh the most tonight at 7:30pm ($15).
Check out The Bechdelprov Project, The Duck Blind, and Stacey’s Duo Project at 8pm in the Saturday Night Comedy show at Dojo, followed by Goodison and Stacey’s Duo Project, round two at 9pm ($10).
If you missed North Coast Hip Hop Improv last time they were in town, your chance has come again this weekend. Catch them at Imagination Stage tonight at 8:00pm ($10).
No kids allowed at Late Night Improv, hosted by ComedySportz, at DC Improv. Hear all the dirty jokes you want at 9:45pm ($15).
Three Guys On hosts their weekly comedy showcase at Drafthouse DC at 10:45pm.
