Some highlights from District Comedians this week: In Lieu of Flowers premiers this Sunday at DCAC, Stacey With a Side of Schmear takes on Buzzfeed on Saturday, and Dojo’s Deer Friends is putting on a Mother’s Day sketch show.
Sunday, May 6
The debut of WIT project In Lieu of Flowers is tonight during the Road Show at DCAC at 7:30pm. Poetic Resistance will also make an appearance ($15).
Monday, May 7
Broken Mic Comedy is happening at Shenanigans at 8pm.
Tuesday, May 8
Harold Night features WIT ensembles Tiovivo and LIZARD GIRL at 8pm and Wonder Whale and Oh That Baby at 9pm at Source.
Wednesday, May 9
Broken Mic Comedy hosts its DMV comedy showcase, Supercard of Laughter, at The G.O.A.T. at 8pm.
Thursday, May 10
WIT’s Road Show starts its second week with shows from CommuniKate: ArtAlive, Stovëtron, and (a?) Dance Ensemble Collaboration at 7:30pm at DCAC ($15).
Brandon T. Jackson is on the DC Improv stage this weekend, with shows tonight at 7:30pm, Friday at Saturday at 7:30pm and 9:45pm, and Sunday at 7pm ($20–$22).
Elena Torres hosts H Street Comedy Night at Mythology at 8pm.
Tim Trueheart hosts Stand-up at Summers comedy open mic at Summers Restaurant tonight at 8pm.
Martin Amini hosts the Overachievers showcase at Drafthouse DC at 8:45pm ($10).
Friday, May 11
Love Onion and Dance Ensemble Collaboration start WIT’s Road Show tonight at 7:30pm, followed by Nox! and iMusical in the 9:30pm show ($15).
Tonight’s DMV Comedy Showcase at DC Improv features sets from Cerrome Russel, Denise Taylor, Eddie Morrison, Petey Steele, and Randy Syphax at 7:30pm and 9:45pm ($17).
Improv Comedy Night at Dojo has Stovëtron on at 8pm and Goodison and Maple Sunday at 9:30pm ($10).
Unified Scene Theater‘s The Artless Bards perform tonight in Bloomingdale, along with Bottom Shelf and Please and Thank You at 8pm ($12).
Experienced and newbie comics meet onstage at Attack of the Comics at Drafthouse DC at 10:45pm.
The only bagel-themed talk show I’ve ever heard of, Stacey with a Side of Schmear, is back at Dojo this week with a Bagel Ballyhoo, which involves investigating Buzzfeed’s investigative bagel journalism at 11pm ($10).
Saturday, May 12
Ugh hosts Grig’in’ w/ The Gurls 2: a drag brunch fundraiser for WIT at 18th and U Duplex Diner at 1pm ($45).
Saturday’s Road Show from WIT will feature Commonwealth and Dance Ensemble Collaboration at 7:30pm and Double Date and In Lieu of Flowers at 9:30pm at DCAC ($15).
Tonight’s DMV Comedy Showcase at DC Improv features sets from Theresa Concepcion, Kasaun Wilson, Rocky Dale Davis, Matty Litwack, and Dominic Rivera at 7:30pm and 9:30pm ($20).
Bring your mom to Dojo since sketch group Deer Friends is putting on a Mother’s Day Eve show at 8pm and 9:30pm ($10).
Three Guys On‘s weekly showcase takes place every Saturday at Drafthouse DC at 10:45pm.
