You listened to Seth Payne in season one, when this podcast was called the Comedic Pursuits Podcast. Now, season two is Heavy Flo, a Comedic Pursuits podcast. We’re still going to interview DC-based artists and comedians and funny people doing funny stuff.
We’ll talk a little bit about comedy, a little bit about people, a little bit about life, love, friendship, and anxiety. Comedy is such a big old monster. There are so many parts to it, and we want to explore all of them: sadness, insecurity, laughs, clapping, etiquette, confidence, the crazy, the wild, the unsure, the unfamiliar, the inspirational, and scary. The wanting it real bad. The having it. (Is that worse than wanting it?)
Some big questions Heavy Flo will tackle
How do you forge your own path if you’ve already broken your own record? How do you join something people have already started? If other people are doing things a certain way and succeeding, does that mean you have to do it the same way?
How do you cope with wanting something more than other people? Being in a town like DC, what does that feel like?
How do you cope with failure? We’ll talk about when you want something, you prepared yourself for this thing, and you don’t get it. Then what happens?
What is failure? What is success? That’s a sliding scale. How are you measuring success, even for yourself. What does success mean to you? It’s not the same for every person.
On a Puss and Kooch level, it’s just putting yourself out there. And, according to Kara, looking your best while doing it.
Why we named our show Heavy Flo
When we first came up with our title, Heavy Flo, we were talking about this feeling you have when you’re in the zone. It’s an electric feeling of being on, knowing what the audience wants, and knowing you can give it to them.
It’s like a second kiss. You already know you’re on the same page. You both want it, you’re feeling it, and now you’re going for it and connecting together. We’re using kissing as a metaphor, but we’re talking about the idea of asking, “Do we want to go there?” and then going there and exploring that. That’s where we came up with this idea of flow.
All of a sudden, there are no separate entities. You’re just moving together, whether it’s with the audience or within a friendship. With any sort of connection, there’s a flow, and you’re no longer bound by physical, emotional, or mental distances. You’ve taken away the guards.
Are you wet yet?
We’re going to go there and flow together. And Puss and Kooch only flows heavy. We don’t do anything light. We’re ultra kind of girls.
You put your earbuds in, and you’re listening, which means now you’re in the splash zone. Hope you’ve got a poncho because it’s gonna get real wet.
This has been—and will be—Heavy Flo. Thanks for listening in and getting wet with us.

Special thanks
We want to give a special thank you and shout-out to our executive producer Kourtney Ramseur. She keeps the chaos in line.
Special thanks to Alex Kazanas for his logo art, which we’ll reveal later this week. It feels so good when someone sees you and knows what you need. And that’s what Alex did for us, so thank you!
